Pro Tips

The 280 limit applies to the tweet, not the image

The image renders any length you like. The counter is there so you know whether the same text would fit as an actual tweet, which matters when you plan to post both.

Premium raises the limit to 4,000

X Premium subscribers can post up to 4,000 characters. The counter shows 280 because that is what most accounts get, and long tweets are truncated with a "Show more" for everyone reading.

Instagram may not want the X logo

Posting a card with a rival network branding into an Instagram or TikTok feed puts a competitor mark in front of their users. Use the Generic or Text Only style if that worries you.

Use the branded card when you want the follow

If the goal is to pull an audience from Instagram to X, the X chrome is the message. Keep the handle exactly right, because that is what people will search for.

Why Turn a Tweet Into an Image?

A tweet only reaches people already on X. The same words as an image can go to Instagram, TikTok, Pinterest or a newsletter, where a plain block of text would never get shown. That is the entire reason screenshotted tweets are everywhere.

Most tools that do this need a link to a tweet that already exists. They are archive tools: you posted something, it did well, and now you want a picture of it. This one works the other way round. You paste the text, so you can make the image before the tweet exists, or for a thought you never posted at all.

The counter matters because of that ordering. If you are writing the tweet here first, you need to know whether it actually fits in 280 characters before you go and post it. The image will render 900 characters happily; X will not.

One judgement call worth making deliberately: whether the card should carry the X logo. If you want people to follow you on X, it should, because the branding is the invitation. If you are simply moving good writing to a bigger audience, the unbranded styles avoid putting a competitor mark into someone else feed.

No. Most tweet screenshot tools require a link to an already published tweet. This one takes the text itself, so you can make an image from a tweet you have not posted yet.
The image has no limit, but the counter tracks the 280 character limit that applies to posting on X. X Premium raises that to 4,000 characters.
It renders the current X layout, including the X logo and the modern engagement row.
