LinkedIn is the one platform where your image quality reflects on your professional reputation. Blurry profile pictures or pixelated banners can undermine the credibility you are trying to build. Getting your dimensions right matters more here than anywhere else.
For regular posts, you have two main formats. Square images at 1200 x 1200 pixels work great for infographics, quotes, and standalone graphics. If you are sharing a link, the preview card crops to 1.91:1, so 1200 x 627 pixels ensures nothing important gets cut off.
The background banner is notoriously tricky at 1584 x 396 pixels (4:1 aspect ratio). This ultra-wide format means most photos will not work without significant cropping. Design specifically for this space with text and branding centered.
Profile pictures display at various sizes around LinkedIn, from 40 pixels in comments to 200 pixels on your profile page. Upload at least 400 x 400 pixels for clarity at all sizes. A professional headshot with good lighting goes a long way.
Document posts (carousels) have become huge on LinkedIn. Each slide displays as a square or portrait image. Design at 1080 x 1080 or 1080 x 1350 pixels, and export as a PDF for the best quality.
Company pages need a logo at 300 x 300 pixels and a cover image at 1128 x 191 pixels. The logo should work at small sizes since it appears in job listings, ads, and company mentions throughout the platform.
